SCHOOL IS REOPENING – WEDNESDAY MARCH 11, 2020
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we shared with you we have been experiencing a recent influx of positive Flu diagnoses among our school staff. We also had a number of students go home early sick on Monday March 9, 2020. In an abundance of caution, we closed the school building on Tuesday March 10, 2020 as we gathered more information and performed a sanitation of the school building on Tuesday March 10, 2020.
Please understand at this time we still have no reason to believe any of this is related to the COVID19 Coronavirus. We did contact the Philadelphia Department of Health who shared that the Flu is making a second wave around.
The Department of Health stressed the importance of the following:
– Good handwashing and hygiene protocols are critical at this time, the routine washing of hands for at least 20 seconds with soap is strongly recommended
– Covering all sneezes and coughs, avoiding touch of face, eyes, mouth and nose.
– Frequent cleaning of all hard surfaces
– If staff or students are sick they must stay home. Staff/students may return to school once they are fever free for at least 24 hours.
Please note: The school building will be OPEN and classes will resume Wednesday March 11, 2020. If your child comes to school sick or becomes sick throughout the day an excused early dismissal will be issued and you will be called to pick your child up early from school.
Providing for the health, welfare, and safety of the young people and staff in our schools is of the utmost importance to us, as is keeping you informed of the actions we are taking to maintain healthy school and work environments. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work through this matter.
